The family of Craig Schimming, a Special Olympian killed by an illegal alien in a horrific New Year’s Day 2023 crash, has released a statement in the lead-up to the presidential election condeming the border policies under the last four years and the Biden-Harris administration.
Juan Felix-Avendano, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, was convicted of killing Schimming and severely injuring his elderly parents as they were driving to church in Milwaukee. Felix-Avendano, under the influence of crystal meth, was so intoxicated that he couldn’t even recall leaving his home, according to the criminal complaint, according to Wisconsin Right Now.
The Schimming family, like many others affected by violent crimes committed by noncitizens, feels that the public deserves to know the full story. “Real victims, communities, and taxpayers are paying the price of weak Biden/Harris border policies,” the family said in their statement, pointing out that politicians like U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin have failed to prioritize the safety of American citizens. “Every state is a border state,” they added, emphasizing that these incidents aren’t isolated to traditional border states.
The family’s GoFundMe page, set up to help cover the costs of the Schimmings’ medical expenses and funeral, has garnered attention from the community, but their concerns extend beyond their personal tragedy. They believe that too many lives have been lost or irreparably damaged because of the current administration’s lax approach to border control.
The Full Statement:
Each day, from Sept. 25 through the presidential election, we tell you about a non-citizen currently in a Wisconsin jail who is accused of committing a horrific crime. ICE placed immigration detainers on each of them. We are highlighting a range of serious crimes. In most cases, they are people currently held in jails in Wisconsin. In this case, Felix-Avendano is now in prison.
Right now, the case of a non-citizen Venezuelan gang member accused of sexually assaulting a teen and woman in Prairie Du Chien has grabbed the public’s attention. It’s not an outlier. Real victims, communities, and taxpayers are paying the price of weak Biden/Harris border policies, which are abetted by politicians like U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin. Every state is a border state. Do all illegal immigrants commit crimes once they get to Wisconsin? Of course not. However, this is the side of the immigration equation the media don’t often rush to tell. And it’s a very consequential one.
