The Dallas Cowboys have traded four-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in one of the biggest deals of the NFL offseason. In return, Dallas receives three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two future first-round picks in 2026 and 2027.
Parsons, 26, immediately signed a four-year, $188 million contract with Green Bay, including $120 million fully guaranteed and $136 million in total guarantees, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history, according to ESPN.
In a statement posted to social media, Parsons wrote, “I never wanted this chapter to end, but not everything was in my control. My heart has always been here, and it still is. Through it all, I never made any demands. I never asked for anything more than fairness. I only asked that the person I trust to negotiate my contract be part of the process.”
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones defended the move, saying the trade was made with playoff success in mind. “This was a move to get us successful in the playoffs,” Jones said. “This was a move to be better on defense, stopping the run. This was a deliberate move, a well-thought-out move to make this happen.”
Parsons departs Dallas after four dominant seasons, where he became only the second player in NFL history—alongside Reggie White—to record at least 12 sacks in each of his first four years. His 52.5 career sacks already rank fifth-most through a player’s first four seasons. (RELATED: Former Packer CEO Continues Sports Influence in Green Bay Area)
Green Bay, meanwhile, hasn’t had a double-digit sack player since 2020. Parsons will anchor a pass rush that has relied heavily on Rashan Gary, Lukas Van Ness, and Kingsley Enagbare but has lacked an elite finisher.
Parsons will face his former team quickly—Green Bay travels to Dallas in Week 4 for a high-profile “Sunday Night Football” matchup. (RELATED: Green Bay Packers Reunite with Veteran DB Corey Ballentine)
