Former Packer CEO Continues Sports Influence in Green Bay Area
Mark Murphy will be joining the UW-Green Bay athletic department in an inaugural role

Former Packer CEO Mark Murphy announces he will stay in the sports realm in northeastern Wisconsin as he joins the UW- Green Bay Athletic Department. 

Murphy retired from the Packers this July, due to the Packers’ bylaws. He will serve as the university’s inaugural “Executive in Residence” this coming fall and will have his own office in the Kress Center on campus. (RELATED: Green Bay Packers Reunite with Veteran DB Corey Ballentine)

“We are honored to have Mark Murphy join UW-Green Bay as an Executive in Residence,” Chancellor Mike Alexander said in a statement. “His passion for this region, belief in the importance of education, his experience as a D1 Athletic Director, and his incredible qualities as a leader will continue to inspire us.”

Murphy’s role seems to be more centered around community outreach, improving the UWGB athletic image, and helping coaches and staff reach their full potential. They will also be looking to expand their influence in the Green Bay area by partnering with local businesses and sponsorships. (RELATED: Packers Reach Deal with Rookie Anthony Belton)

In his time in Green Bay, he helped guide renovations to Lambeau Field, develop the TitleTown area, and most recently land the 2025 Draft in Green Bay. He also served as the Athletic Director at Colgate University from 1992-2003 and Northwestern University from 2003-07.
