On Sunday, a church in Grand Blanc, Michigan was rammed into by an ex-marine, who then fired shots on the church and then set the building ablaze.
The suspect, recently identified as 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford. Sanford is from a suburb of Flint, about 6 miles away from Grand Blanc.
Sanford, took a pickup truck and rammed it into the front of the Church Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Grand Blanc. He then grabbed an assault rifle out of the truck bed and began to open fire on the church. Sanford then successfully lit a fire, with what authorities believe to be gasoline, said James Dier of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to the AP.
At least four people were killed in the attack, two of whom were shot, and eight were injured. As search and rescue continued, authorities added two more casualties to the attack. Firefighters were unable to contain the blaze until several hours later.
Reportedly, police were on the scene within 30 seconds where they pursued Sanford and “exchanged gunfire” and shot him down in a nearby parking lot. (RELATED: 21 Arrested in Manitowoc County as ICE Raids Intensify)
“We are devastated; we don’t know what to think,” said the Sanford Family in a statement. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the Grand Blanc community and all those affected by this tragedy.” The Sanford Family was in shock and had “no words” when they heard the news of Thomas Sanford. This event has been the latest in multiple non-secular attacks in the past few months.
In Minnesota, an alumni of the Annunciation Catholic Church school opened fire on a church in Minnesota, where the shooter killed two children and injured almost 2 dozen.
Also in Kentucky, where two parishioners were shot dead after the suspect hijacked a car and drove it to Richmond Road Baptist Church in Lexington where he opened fire on church goers.
